PNoy economic team
briefing set tomorrow

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The economic managers of the Aquino administration will brief 300 members of the Negros Occidental business community on the country’s gains in 2010 and targets for 2011 to 2016 at the L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City tomorrow morning.

President Benigno Aquino III is scheduled to deliver a speech after the briefing where concerns of the local business community will be raised, Frank Carbon, president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said yesterday.

Among the economic managers expected at the briefing are Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo, Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, National Economic and Development Authority chief Cayetano Paderanga, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Gov. Amando Tetangco Jr., Carbon said.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the president is expected to join the ground-breaking for the expansion of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City before going to the economic management briefing.

He will then join the governor and Negros Occidental mayors for lunch at the Capitol before meeting multi-sectoral groups at the Negros Occidental Multipurpose Activity Center in Bacolod City, where health cards and certificates for low cost housing are set to be distributed.

The president will then meet with the yellow volunteers who campaigned for his presidency at the Carmelite Monastery in Bacolod City before leaving the province.

Members of the Presidential Management Staff and Presidential Security Group yesterday met with the governor to finalize plans for the president’s visit.*CPG
