A newly-formed alliance in Bacolod City is calling on the congressmen of Negros Occidental to vote for the impeachment of Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez.

Its advocacy officer, Edwin Balajadia, said yesterday that the Bacolod Citizens Alliance for Good Governance is composed of Bacolod-based leaders and representatives of various sectoral organizations and political formations.

Amid rising calls for her to resign, Gutierrez yesterday said: “I will not resign because there is no law that says I should, even if I have a pending case.”moremoremore

Manhandled ma died
from cardiac arrest

The septuagenarian woman who died after allegedly being manhandled by her daughters in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City, died of cardiac arrest, Station 2 commander Chief Insp. Noel Polines said yesterday.

Rosalia Prudente, 77, of Purok Lampirong Compound in Brgy. 2, was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital by her son, Bernardo, at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Witnesses Arnold Bacan, 35, of Purok Pilit in Brgy. 6 and April Joy Bordit, 26, of Purok Lampirong claimed that Prudente’s daughters, Jocelyn and Delia, had mauled her.moremoremore

ON COP CHIEFS
PNP releasing lists of
nominees today

The 27 municipal and city mayors of Negros Occidental are expected to receive the lists of nominees for their police chiefs, the positions vacated on March 1, starting today, Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director, said.

Guisihan said only four of the 31 police chiefs will retain their positions, and these are the cities of Victorias and Sipalay, and the municipalities of Hinobaan and San Enrique.

He said the mayors of 27 towns and cities will select their new police chiefs from the list of nominees.moremoremore
