Class ’73 stayed on top but Batch ’85 is closing in at the Negros Occidental High School Inter-Class Alumni Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

With three more playing dates left, Class ’73 composed of Jessie Torres, Jerry Rodrigo, Francis Divinagracia, Felipe Boy Romero Jr., Hernand Garciniego, Grace Ong, Grace Zollinger and Nanette Garciniego now have a nine-round output of 13,202 pinfalls, 59 pins ahead over second running Batch ’85 led by Iran Pielago with 13,143.

In close third is Class ’82 spearheaded by Cesar Sumaylo with 13,121 followed by Batch ’89 anchored by Ronella Cordero with 12,972.

Class ’70 has 12,832; Class ’66, 12,821; Class ’68, 12,807; Class ’72, 12,651; Class ’67, 12,464; Class ’84, 12,458; Class ’71, 12,434; Class ’80, 12,413; Class ’65, 12,408; Class ’59, 12,348; Mavericks ’67, 12,252; Class’74, 12,060;  Class ’58, 12,053; Class ’90, 12,023; Class ’86, 11,970; Class 2000/2001/2002 Combined, 11,762; Class ’95, 11,560; Class ’88, 11,375; Class ’92, 11,348; Class ’87, 10,921; Class ’81, 10,756; Class ’75, 9,872, and Class ’91, 9,669.

Batch ’85 holds the highest team single and triple records with 560 and 1,628.

Class ’88 mainstay Jerico Java’s record in the men’s individual highest pinning is untouched at 94, while Hernand Garciniego of Class ’73 and Iran Pielago of Batch ’85 highest single and triple marks are intact at 153 and 405 each.

Nelsie Popen of Batch ’80 registered the women’s highest pinning with 93, and as Class ’89 reliable Ronella Cordero the highest single and triple with 129 and 320, respectively.

Action will resume today at 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Solid Star Group “Trio Bowling Competition” will open March 15 at the same venue.

The tournament is a six-game scheduled event where the top three teams will engage in an up-the-ladder system to determine the champion. It is open to rated and non-rated bowling enthusiasts in Negros Island.
