The Bureau of Internal Revenue, Revenue Region No.12, in Bacolod City is reminding all taxpayers to file and declare correct income tax returns on or before April 15.
BIR regional director Araceli Francisco said they will prioritize accountants, medical practitioners, and lawyers to be audited for 2010 taxable year.
This is pursuant to the revenue memorandum order of the BIR setting the Amended Audit Criteria for auditing tax returns by revenue district offices, large taxpayers, service audit divisions, and the national investigation division, Teresita Legaspi, head of the BIR Taxpayer Assistance Unit, said.
RR12 has organized regional task forces to conduct tax education campaigns and seminars to inform taxpayers on their responsibilities, due payments, and obligations, Legaspi said.
She said they also asked for the cooperation of taxpayers and for them to attend the seminars so they will understand the things they need to prepare and include in filing their returns.
She also said they have noticed that some taxpayers ask their accountants and other representatives to attend the BIR seminars, which are not bad at all, but it would have been better if they come personally.
BIR recently launched its Tax Campaign Kick-Off and Francisco had said earlier that BIR does not want to do the Oplan Kandado and Run-After-Tax-Evaders program. However, these are the ways to monitor and check if taxpayers pay correct taxes, she said.*LTG
