The Department of Agrarian Reform of Negros Occidental awarded Certificates of Land Ownership to 46 regular workers of Hacienda Anecita, in Brgy. San Pablo, Manapla town, recently.
Gloria Cañonero of DAR Negros said they acquired 68.7276 hectares of land from the total land area of 78.5790 hectares that will be equally distributed to beneficiaries.
The CLOA was recorded in the Register of Deeds in January 30, 2009, on the land that Glorieta and Emmanuel Javelosa formerly owned, Cañonero said.
She said that, under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, the beneficiaries can take possession of the land the moment they receive the CLOA.
Since the acquired land area still has standing crops, the beneficiaries agreed to have a collective farming and will start their cultivation on the vacant areas, she added.
Landowners now have full control over the lands and DAR will continue to assist them whenever they have problems with their lands, Cañonero said.
She said newly installed landowners should know their responsibilities and maximize the potential of the land to make it productive to support their livelihood needs.
The Bravo Company of the 62 Infantry Battalion led by Levie Dolojan and Manapla town Chief of Police Edencio Gregorio assisted the DAR during the installation, Cañonero added.*LTG
