The body of a 42-year-old woman believed to have been molested, was found Sunday by her brother-in-law in Brgy. Bacong, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Police officer-in-charge, Insp. Clifford Batadhay, said the suspect, identified as Glen Antonio, 22, was arrested in a pursuit operation by the Bago police.
Initial investigations showed that the victim, identified as Maria Fe de la Cruz, sustained injuries in the head, believed inflicted with a hard object that caused her death.
Batadhay said Antonio was a suitor of the victim. Before the incident, he said, de la Cruz and Antonio were having a drinking spree.
Antonio, who is now in jail, vehemently denied that he had molested and killed the victim, although he admitted owning a slipper recovered at the crime scene.
Batadhay said Antonio had claimed that he and the victim were on their way home, when she had suddenly disappeared, while he was urinating.
Rape with homicide charges are now being readied by the police for filing against Antonio.
GANG RAPE
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old woman reported to the police that she was gang-raped by more than 10 suspects at a school campus in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on March 16.
The victim, however, told PO3 Victorina Uychocde, chief of the Hinigaran police Women’s and Children Complaint Desk, that she cannot establish the identities of the suspects.
The suspects reportedly took their turns in molesting the victim.*GPB
