The Philippine National Police yesterday cautioned local government officials and the public against a person posing as fugitive ex-barangay captain Noel Ayalin, and asking for financial support in the guise of surrendering to authorities.

Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, however, said “There are no conditions” for the surrender of Ayalin, who is now facing multiple and frustrated murder charges before the Silay City Prosecutor’s Office.

Ayalin remains elusive, despite the coordinated manhunt operations against him by various state security agencies, and the P250,000 reward being offered by Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr. for his arrest.

Guisihan said he was informed by a politician he refused to identify, that a certain person claiming to be Ayalin, has texted him that he will surrender.

After getting the cellular phone number of the person claiming to be Ayalin from a politician, Guisihan said he texted him on his plan to surrender.

In the course of the text exchanges with the person claiming to be Ayalin, Guisihan said he was eventually asked for P3,000.00, to use for the repair of his motorcycle, that he will use in meeting with him.

This made him doubt if the person is really Ayalin, Guisihan said.

In the course of establishing his identity, Guisihan said he asked the person to give his birthday to validate the authenticity if he is really Ayalin.

However, he added, the person claiming to be Ayalin was not able to do so and did not text him anymore.

Guisihan raised the possibility that the bogus Ayalin may also get in touch with politicians and other influential persons so he can get money from them in the guise of surrendering.     

He said the manhunt operations against Ayalin remains.

The victims of the bloodbath on March 6 in Brgy. Kapitan Ramon, Silay City, identified as Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson Imee Occena, Kagawads Freddie Juno, Luzviminda Cotamen and Pedrito Orocio have been buried already.

Police are readying frustrated murder charges against Ayalin for the injuries of Kapitan Ramon barangay captain Ramon Celebre, Kagawad Salvacion Corugda and barangay treasurer Leony Llorca, who survived the shooting spree.*GPB
