The Senior Officers Placement and Promotions Board has already released the names of the five nominees for the post of Bacolod City Police Office Director, National Police Commission Region 6 Director Honey Paredes, who was in Bacolod yesterday, told the DAILY STAR.
Paredes said the nominees include City Police officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, Western Visayas Highway Patrol Group chief, Senior Supt. Cesar Jacob, Senior Supt. Herminio Tadeo from Camp Crame, former Region III chief of Police Aviation Service chief, Senior Supt. Eleodoro Ocampo, and former Tuguegarao City deputy director Senior Supt. Domingo Lucas.
Paredes said SOPPB has furnished them a copy of the list of nominees for initial screening and also furnished Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia the list.
Leonardia is expected to announce his choice within ten days after the receipt of the list.
She said that, among the nominees, de la Paz, who took over from former BCPO Director Senior Supt. Celestino Guara in February, is a strong contender for the post having a good track record and with excellent work ethics.
Several business groups had also expressed recently that they are pushing for the permanent appointment of de la Paz as city police director, saying that he has implemented a lot of changes in the anti-criminality campaign in his two-month stint as BCPO officer-in-charge, she said.
Leonardia, who was still in Manila yesterday, confirmed that he had received the names of the nominees from Police Regional Office-6 Director Chief Supt. Cepriano Querol in March 17.
He, however, said that he is announcing his choice in due time as he has set several criteria before deciding on the matter.
Leonardia said the next city police director should have outstanding integrity, must have a good track and performance record, and, most of all, has the acceptance of the Bacoleños.*APN
