The city of Escalante and Candoni in Negros Occidental, have new police chiefs, too.
Chief Inspector Regidor Alvarado, administrative officer of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, yesterday said that Supt. Leo Batiles was selected by Mayor Melecio Yap Jr. as the new police chief of Escalante City.
Batiles used to be assigned at the Capiz Police Provincial Office, police records showed.
Alvarado said Inspector Romeo Vargas, former police chief of La Castellana, was also named officer-in-charge of the Candoni Police Station.
Senior Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, former Binalbagan police chief, took over the position vacated by Vargas, police chief of La Castellana, on March 23.
The appointments of Batiles and Vargas brought to 22 the number of towns and cities in Negros Occidental, with new police chiefs.
Alvarado said he is expecting the remaining nine mayors of Negros Occidental to submit the names of the police chiefs they have selected today to Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director.*GPB
