Speak out on Merci,
Trillanes asks public

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV yesterday called on the public to follow closely the impeachment trial of Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez and publicly express their opinions so the Senate “can see clearly the writing on the wall whether she deserves to be convicted or not.”

Triallanes, was in Negros Occidental for a convention of the Samahang Magdalo headed by former Marine captain Gary Alejano in Sipalay City, Saturday, and to meet various local government officials.

“As for my stand (on the impeachment), I believe my position is well known to practically everybody. (But) I will withhold the initial pronouncement until the end of the (Senate) trial,” Trillanes said.moremoremore

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV yesterday assured Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia and other city officials that he will support the bill apportioning the City of Bacolod into two districts as provided in House Bill No. 2999.

During a call on Leonardia yesterday at the Bacolod City Government Center, Trillanes also committed to help the city in its project to rehabilitate the public plaza.

Meanwhile, Trillanes and Samahang Magdalo national president Capt. Gary Alejano, who were both involved in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny, said they are satisfied with the performance of President Benigno Aquino III. moremoremore

Bishop welcomes
RH bill opposition

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra yesterday said he is very happy that Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is opposed to the reproductive health bill, which is a position aligned with the teachings of the Church.

“We are opposed to the bill because of its moral implications that will liberalize the idea of sex, sexuality, marriage and the sanctity of the family,” Navarra told Trillanes, who met with him at the Bishop’s House in Bacolod City.

The bishop also told Trillanes  that he is banking on his help when the bill is tackled in the Senate.moremoremore
