Imports to make Negros
PH sheep capital – guv
FLIGHT HOME DELAYED BY QANTAS STRIKE

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental is importing 6,000 to 7,000 Dorper sheep from Australia for breeding, and that number will make it the sheep capital of the Philippines, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., who returned from a weeklong trip to Australia Sunday, said yesterday.

The governor’s return to the Philippines from Australia that was set Friday was delayed by a Qantas Airways strike. Marañon and Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena were on board a Qantas plane in Perth Friday when they had to disembark because a strike was declared.

They were supposed to fly from Perth to Melbourne for a connecting flight back to the Philippines on Friday, he said.moremoremore
