| Visual artist wins award
The work of a Negrense visual artist from Victorias City, Negros Occidental, was hailed as the best painting in the Third International Exhibition entitled "Real Colors 3 Albaylasan For Fine Arts" held at the Holiday Inn, Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a press release said.
Larry Carumba's painting, "Breeding Time", bested over 200 masterpieces of famous Saudi and known international artists from the USA, Switzerland, Tunis, Egypt, Bahrain, Syria, Jordan, Korea, India, and the Philippines.
The annual international art exhibition under the patronage of Prince Abdul Aziz bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Saud was held recently at the Holiday Inn, Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was attended by the kingdom's royalties, luminaries and the elitist of the art society. Judging was discreetly done during the three-day exhibition, the press release said.*

Tapulanga fundraiser set Nov. 26
The Tapulanga Foundation Inc. is holding its third yearly fundraiser at 21st Restaurant in Bacolod City 6 to 10 p.m. on November 26.
Entitled "Eat. Share. Love.", the event celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Tapulanga Foundation and will feature a buffet dinner, a silent auction, door and raffle prizes and entertainment, a press release from the foundation said.
Established in 2001, Tapulanga Foundation Inc. works to uplift the lives of those who were born with less through educational scholarships, health care assistance and micro-credit loans for families of farm workers in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Rotary pact signed
The Rotary Club of Bacolod Marapara has signed a two-year sisterhood agreement with the Rotary Club of Ilsan-Jungbal of South Korea, a press release from the club said.
Ten members of the Korean club, led by its president, Kim Gyoo Joong, were in Bacolod to sign the agreement Thursday at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod City.
Rico Cajili, president of RCBM and Kim said the agreement will strengthen the mutual understanding and promote goodwill and friendship between the officers and members of both clubs.
The agreement kicked off when the Ilsan-Jungbal club donated school supplies to the Villa Gracia Day Care Center in Brgy Bata. Support of the center is one of the Marapara club's community projects, the press release said.
The RCBM undertakes many community activities each year. To fund projects, the club stages the annual “Rotary-Golf for a Cause” tournament held at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club, the press release added.*

US Peace Corp
celebrates 50th year
In celebration of 50th year of US Peace Corps presence in the Philippines its volunteers in Bacolod City are holding an exhibit until November 14 at the East Bridgeway of SM City Bacolod.
The exhibit will showcase photos and artifacts of the programs and projects that have been undertaken with the help of the Peace Corps, a press release from SM said.
Justin Taboor, US Peace Corps Volunteer in Bacolod City, said the exhibit aims at increasing their visibility and significantly impact the development work being done in Negros Occidental.
He added that Peace Corps Philippines is sponsoring regional celebrations to showcase the long history of the wonderful partnership with the Philippines.
The US Peace Corps is a volunteer organization founded in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy. Peace Corps volunteers serve all over world aiding in human and resource development, the press release said.
In the Philippines, its three sectors, are Education, Children Youth and Families, and Costal Resource Management.
Currently it has four volunteers working in Bacolod City, and another five in the other cities of Negros Occidental.
The first batch of Peace Corps volunteers in Negros Occidental were assigned in 1961, the press release added.*
