Semis duels start
in Albee Cup

Victorias cagers will try to beat the Talisay Green Dragons twice to earn the right of facing early finalist Silay as the semifinal round in basketball’s 40-Up division of the 1st Palarong Tercer Distrito Cong. Albee Cup starts today in Talisay, the press release said.

Best-of-three championship series between the top two teams is scheduled on November 9, 12 and 13.

In the quarterfinals last weekend, Talisay improved its record by beating EB Magalona, 110-94, while Victorias registered another victory against Murcia.

In the Open category, EB Magalona had an easy time securing the second spot after registering a victory by default over Victorias. Silay also beat Murcia, 85-79, to advance to the semifinals, the press release said.

Murcia and Victorias will battle for third place in the Open category today at Silay Gym, while host Silay enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage against EB Magalona in the semifinals.

The winner between Silay and EB Magalona will face Talisay in the finals.

In volleyball, Victorias, Silay and EB Magalona will contest the title in the men’s division, while Silay and Talisay duel for the crown in the distaff side.

The tournament is part of the sports program of 3rd District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for the five local government units in the district.
