member collared
A suspected notorious robber member of an organized crime group called the “the bolt cutter gang” victimizing several business establishments in Bacolod City was arrested by the Regional Intelligence Unit at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Brgy. 13.
City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, identified the one arrested as Allan Carumayan, 30, of Purok Boulevard in Brgy. 13.
Carumayan was arrested on information that he and his two companions, who have evaded arrest and whose names are being withheld, were involved in the robbery of a lending firm at the Bacolod City downtown area Tuesday.
Emeterio Flores of Talisay City, Negros Occidental and the owner of G5 Credit and Lending Corporation at the BJI building at Hernaez Street, Bacolod, told the police he discovered the padlocks of the roll up door of the establishment destroyed and some items missing.
Among the items stolen, he said, were a television set valued at P10,500, several mechanical tools, a wristwatch and a wall clock, two electric fans all valued at P2,800, a computer set valued at P30,000 and computer printers, among others.
Police Officer 3 Joshua Barile, Police Officers 2 Jerome Javier and Johnny dela Peña recovered the television set, an electric fan, a computer set, a bolt cutter and seven sacks of rice from the warehouse of Carumayan’s group, police records showed.
Investigation showed that the modus of the group is to park their tricycle in front of their target establishment and two of them will pretend to be fixing the vehicle while their companion is cutting the padlocks with the bolt cutter.
De la Paz said they received information that this is the same group that robbed a rice dealer store at the downtown area and another store in Brgy. Sum-ag several months ago.*APN back
