‘EDC complied with MOA
except for power aspect’

The Energy Development Corp. has complied with practically almost all the provisions of the memorandum of agreement it signed with the provincial government of Negros Occidental, in connection with its entry and operation within the buffer zone of the Mt. Kanlaon National Park, Board Member Emilio Yulo said.

Yulo, chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan, however, said EDC failed to comply with an important aspect of MOA, which is that of selling the power generated to electric cooperatives in the province.

He said the MOA signed by EDC and the provincial government of Negros Occidental is theoretically good until 2011.
