Another one sacked at
treasurer’s office

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Office of the Ombudsman has dismissed a third employee of the Negros Occidental Provincial Treasurer’s Office for a shortage in her collection of government funds, a copy of its decision that was received by the governor’s office Thursday said.

The Ombudsman found Revenue Collection Clerk 1 Eden Rosario Dasas administratively guilty of serious dishonesty, and dismissed her from the service with forfeiture of benefits and perpetual disqualification to hold public office.

Provincial Treasurer Nilda Generoso yesterday said that, as early as February 2010, Dasas was believed to have absconded and was rumored to have left the country.moremoremore

Gloria served
warrant of arrest

Pasay Regional Trial Court Judge Jesus Mupas yesterday issued a warrant of arrest against the former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr., and Lintang Bedol, former chairman of the Provincial Board of Canvassers in Mindanao.

Joel Pelicano, court administrator of Pasay RTC Branch 112, said Mupas immediately issued a warrant of arrest because there was enough evidence in relation to an electoral sabotage case against the respondents.

The warrant was served on Arroyo at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City at about 6:30 p.m. yesterday.moremoremore

jailed RPA men

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Two more members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade, arrested Nov. 13 for illegal possession of firearms in Manapla, Negros Occidental, were released from jail yesterday, after 36-hour reglamentary period of detention lapsed, town police chief, Inspector Julius Ceasar Colado, said.

Colado, however, said the filing of charges for illegal possession of firearms against arrested RPA-ABB members Rio Montejo and Roberto Barrido will be pushed through next week.

The arrest of Montejo, 33, and Barrido, 22, yielded an Ingram 9mm machine pistol with a magazine containing 15 live ammunition and a homemade 357 magnum revolver with six bullets.moremoremore
