wins Sandurot Fest

The Barangay Banilad contingent bested four other  barangays in Dumaguete City during the Sandurot Festival Saturday at the City Hall quadrangle.

The champion barangay earned major awards as best in street dancing and showdown, and minor awards,  as best in costume, best in choreography, and the Sandurot King.

Second place went to Barangay Talay, third place to Barangay Daro, and Barangay Poblacion 8 and Barangay Looc were in fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Other awards were the Sandurot Queen won by the representative from Barangay Talay and best in arch, won by Barangay Poblacion 8.   

This year’s Sandurot Festival champion received P30,000  in cash, trophy and Kopiko products, while the second place winner received P20,000, trophy and Kopiko products, third place winner received P10,000, while the fourth and fifth place winners received P5,000 each.

The Department of Tourism is this year’s sponsor for the prizes.

Barangay Banilad will represent Dumaguete in Cebu’s Sinulog Festival in January next year.*JFP
