IN SILAY
Wanted persons nabbed

Two suspects, one of them facing a string of drug-related cases, were apprehended during the weekend in Silay City, Negros Occidental, by virtue of arrest warrants, police records show.

Supt. Rosauro Francisco reported yesterday the apprehension of Timodien Tillo, alias Boyet, 39, in Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, by virtue of arrest warrants for violation of Sections 5, 11 and 12 of RA 9165, on the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Francisco, Silay police chief, said Tillo was denied bail under Section 5 of RA 9165, for the sale of illegal drugs, while the court has recommended P200,000 and P40,000 bail each, for the charge of having in his possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia, respectively.

Meanwhile, Mark de la Cruz,28, was also nabbed by the police at Burgos Street in Brgy. 2, Silay City, for violation of RA 7610.

Silay Regional Trial Court Judge Felipe Banzon has recommended P80,000 bail for de la Cruz, who is now locked up in jail.*GPB

team first runner-up
IN SHOOTING TILT

The Special Weapons and Tactics unit of the Bacolod City Police Office was adjudged first runner-up in the regional marksmanship competition sponsored by the Police Regional Office-6 held in Pototan town in Iloilo province, recently, City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo dela Paz, said yesterday.

The SWAT unit, the SWAT unit of Roxas City police was declared champion while the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office was second runner-up.

De la Paz said the BCPO SWAT unit, composed of Insp. Jovil Sedel, Police Officer 2 Randy Ramos and Police Officers 1 Jeffrey Sellado and Arthus Escuarda, received a trophy.

He added that the competition was graded based on the policemen’s firing speed and accuracy.

The BCPO SWAT recently ranked second in terms of performance among the seven SWAT units inspected by Camp Crame.

Police Director General George Piano, chief of the logistics Division of Camp Crame, said he had observed the SWAT demonstration on crisis situation at the BCPO headquarters, and he was impressed with its performance.

The Bacolod City government has allotted P1.5 million for the acquisition of gear and for the training of SWAT personnel.*APN
