Two bodies found
in Pontevedra

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The two decomposing bodies, believed to be victims of salvaging that were dumped Friday in Hacienda Monserat, Brgy. Don Salvador Benedicto, in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, died of strangulation, town police chief Senior Inspector Vanessa Gayle Sonoy said yesterday.

Sonoy said the identities of the two victims remain a mystery, however, as of yesterday.

Sonoy said the autopsy reports of Dr. Johnson Zuluaga, Pontevedra Municipal Health Officer, show that the two victims sustained injuries and hematoma in different parts of their bodies, and died of strangulation.

One of the victims believed to be in his 30s, was found totally naked, while the other was only clad in the upper part of his body, Sonoy said.

The bodies of the two were buried Friday at the Pontevedra public cemetery, after the autopsy and taking of photographs for identification purposes.

Sonoy raised the possibility that the victims were not residents of Pontevedra, as nobody has been reported missing in the town. Investigations also showed that they may have been killed in other areas, and were only dumped in Pontevedra by the perpetrators.*GPB
