Police create task force
to solve killing of teener

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

“Task Force Reclem”  headed by Bacolod City Police Deputy Director for Operations, Supt. Alexander Ermeo, was formed yesterday to solve the killing of a teenager who was protecting his girlfriend from being raped by a  man  at the seawall near the BREDCO port in Bacolod City Sunday.

City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said that, contrary to what has been reported earlier, there was no robbery and  the suspect really wanted to molest the 14-year-old girlfriend of the victim, Joshua Bornales, 16, of Doña Juliana Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod.

De la Paz said the suspect shot Bornales on the right side of his head and the bullet exited through the left side, and while the victim was dying, the suspect molested his girlfriend.

He said the girl fought back bit the hand of the suspect and grappled with him until the magazine of the .9 milimeter pistol dropped to the pavement.

The girl, who was almost undressed, ran about a kilometer away from the crime scene and sought the help of  bystanders who brought her to the police, De la Paz said.

In a television interview, the girl said she and her boyfriend were seeking cover from the rain in a huge rock at the seawall when the suspect came, killed her boyfriend and molested her.

Women and Children’s Complaints Desk chief, Insp. Jovy Cabcaban said the girl  was traumatized but is now in the custody of her parents.

De la Paz said that with the creation of the task force, they are confident that the case will be solved.

The suspect is described to be 5 feet and 3 inches tall,  of medium build, with brown complexion, and wore a brown shorts and a violet shirt at the time of the incident.*APN
