Just in time!
The Bureau of Internal Revenue, Revenue Region 12, was all set to implement a closure order on a Filipino-Chinese owned chain of stores nationwide yesterday, three of which are located in Negros Island, but aborted the move after the company made a partial payment of P50 million.
The three branches of UNITOP Corp.in Negros Island are in Bacolod and Victorias cities on the Occidental aside and Dumaguete City on the Oriental side.
BIR regional director Perfecto Aranas said the establishment under- declared its gross income by more than 30 percent as of 2010 taxable year.
Aranas said they received a communication from Manila that the taxpayer made a partial payment but still owes BIR worth P47,103,363.59.
The main branch of the establishment is in the Valenzuela region, thus, the closure order was initiated by BIR Valenzuela, but RR12 along with other BIR regional offices were supposed to implement the order as well to close its branches operating in the country, Aranas said.
He said this establishment has around 50 branches nationwide.
Meanwhile, Aranas reminded all taxpayers issue receipts, declare the right value added and income tax returns, and pay the correct taxes to avoid closure.
He also said he hopes all taxpayers in this region will comply with the National Internal Revenue Code.
Revenue District 77 Officer Lilivic Gatdula said are also conducting post evaluation of all cash registered machines point of sales to determine the company’s sales and compare it with the income tax return.*LTG back
