Clergy to stage musical
to help retired priests

The Bacolod Clergy will stage a musical concert, featuring 18 dancing priests and 22 “front line” singers with seminarians and religious women, at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum Friday.

Dubbed as “The Priest:  His life, a celebration”, the concert aims to raise funds for the medical care and well-being of retired and ailing priests of the diocese, a project of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Bacolod Priests’ Care Office, a press release from organizers said.

Directed by choreographer Rene Hinojales who also directed the two previous concerts of the Bacolod clergy, this one will feature the Diocesan Dancing Dudes and special guest, DJP Trio, Pilipinas Got Talent finalist; and the Negros Occidental Women Religious Association.

Keyboardist Jico Monte who was also in the other earlier concerts will be the music director.

Diocesan Chancellor Fr. Jude Serfino said the concert is also a part of the Golden Anniversary of Bishop Vicente Navarra as a priest.

A matinee presentation set at 1:30 p.m. will feature dance and song medleys and several Philippine and foreign songs, aside from the presentation by the seminarians of the Sacred Heart Seminary.

The gala performance at 7 p.m. will feature the dance and song medleys of the matinee and a dozen more hits in English and Filipino.

Among the English popular songs are Moon River, Circle of Life, When I Met You, Closer You and I, All I Want Is You, Seasons of Love, I Got the Feeling and the encore, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, the press release said.

Tickets for matinee and gala performances pegged at P100, P200, P500, P1000 and P2000 are available at the Curia Office at the Bishop’s House (Tel. 233-6713) and all parishes and chaplaincies, the press release added.*
