Fifth batch of the trainees in the special package called ICT-4T, or Information and Communication Technology for Teachers, launched by Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) for public elementary and high school teachers of the Third District continues in Victorias City and Silay City this week, a press release from his office said.

There are 67 teachers at the Victorias City Cyber Library and 37 participants at the Dona Montserrat Lopez Memorial National High School undergoing the four-day Digital Literacy Program managed by the Department of Education, Microsoft Philippines, Innovative Training Works and the office of Benitez.

Benitez is setting the groundwork for the implementation of the pilot run of Cyber Education in the province’s Third District in support of the move to institutionalize the integration of ICT into the teaching and learning program of the country’s educational system, the press release said.

Early this year, Benitez filed House Bill 4993 or the Cyber Education Act to improve the quality of education in the country, it added.

The ICT training series for teachers in the Third District was started in May this year with 250 participants. Three batches of trainees totaling to 300 teachers are covered this November.

Benitez facilitated the partnership of his office, DepEd, Microsoft and Innovative Training Works with the signing of a memorandum of agreement for the full support of everyone for the ICT 4T Program, the press release further said.*
