Domestic tourists prefer
Neg. Occ. – NSO study

MANILA - More than half of Filipinos traveled for pleasure or vacation last year, according to the National Statistics Office and most of those who visited the Visayas chose Negros Occidental to spend their holidays in.

In its 2010 Household Survey on Domestic Visitors, the NSO said about 23.1 million Filipinos, who are 15 years old and above, have traveled in any place within the country from April to September last year.

These domestic travelers represent 36.6 percent of the about 63.2 million Filipinos who are more than 15 years old.

ANP opens 1st
branch in Bacolod

The Association of Negros Producers opened its first branch with furniture displays, gift items, house wares, and organic beauty products from its 47 members at the Central City Walk, Robinsons Place in Bacolod, Saturday.

With the ambiance of nature, the Negros Showroom has entered a different market, now targeting buyers from the mall, ANP president Josephine Locsin said.

Locsin said the opening of the branch is like giving birth and that they have to take the risk for ANP to move forward.

OWWA files raps vs.
erring officers

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration  has filed administrative cases against its officers and personnel and had withheld their salaries and other benefits for failure to remit collections and to liquidate their cash advances, OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dimzon said in a government press release.

“We had explained to the Commission on Audit the circumstance of the issues, the amounts involved, the OWWA’s predicament in enforcing collection, and the solid, specific steps we have undertaken,” Dimzon said in response to report on the unremitted collections and unliquidated cash advances.
