Woman stabbed in Ilog
A man ran amuck and repeatedly stabbed a woman in Brgy. Calubang in Ilog town, Negros Occidental, at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police records identified the victim as Maricel Pormentera, 22, of Purok Bonfacio, Brgy. Calubang.
Investigation showed that Pormentera was talking to her husband on her cellular phone when the suspect John Rey Bolneo, 21, of Sitio Enclaro, Brgy. Vista Alegre, attacked and stabbed her repeatedly with a screw driver without provocation.
Pormentera sustained multiple stab wounds and was rushed to the Gumercindo Garcia Sr. Memorial Hospital in Kabankalan City, where she is now confined.
Bolneo, on the other hand, was endorsed by Brgy, Calubang tanods
Esmeliano Aguiluz and Joe Villegas Jr. to the police but the screw driver he used in stabbing the victim was not recovered.
The Ilog town police is still investigating the case.
Meanwhile, a fisherman fromEscalanteCity was shot in front of his companions on board a motorized pump boat between the shoreline of Panansagon and Diot in Brgy. Molocaboc, Sagay CitySaturday morning.
Initial reports reaching the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said that Romeo Baroc, 43, of Brgy. Old Escalante was shot twice on the right thigh by the suspect identified only as “alias Loyan” with an improvised shotgun and a .38 caliber revolver.
Witnesses claimed that a pump boat was tailing their motorized boat where the suspect was ridding while they were on their way to the shoreline and he suddenly opened fire at them, hitting Baroc.
The Sagay City police is still trying to establish the motive for the shooting.*APN

Taxi carnapped
Two suspected robbers riding a motorcycle were arrested by Station 2 policemen after they held up an electrical engineer at the reclamation area near the BREDCO port in Bacolod City Saturday.
Arrested were Jason Dela Paz, 19, and Anthony Solon, 28, both of Purok Riverside in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, City Police Office Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said yesterday.
They were arrested on the complaints of Yesiel Sacramento, 30, of Santa Barbara town, Iloilo, de la Paz said.
Sacramento said she was riding a pedicab on her way to the BREDCO port at about 2 p.m. when the two, who were on a motorcycle, blocked her way. One of the suspects alighted from the motorcycle, took out a gun and declared a hold-up, she said.
The suspects took Sacramento’s shoulder bag which contained her wallet with important documents and P7,200 in cash, cellular phone valued at P18,000, a pair of sunglasses valued at P500, a flashdrive valued at P4,200 and a make-up kit valued at P2,000, and fled on their motorcycle, police records showed.
Sacramento shouted for help and bystanders chased the suspects and mauled them. They were then arrested by Station policemen who were conducting a patrol in the area.
The suspects are now detained at Station 2 police and will face robbery charges.
Other robbery victims are being asked to identify the suspects so more charges will be filed against them.*APN

A driver reported that his passengers took his taxi at Lopez Jaena Street, Bacolod City at about 4:30 a.m. yesterday.
Joecito Chavez, 47, of Sitio Docutan in Silay City, Negros Occidental, told the police that three men boarded his taxi at Rizal-Gatuslao streets, Bacolod.
Sensing something wrong, Chavez said, he decided to stop in a nearby gasoline station but it was closed.
When they reached Lopez Jaena streets, Chavez asked the three to alight and look for another taxi instead because his vehicle wasrunning out of gas.
Chavez said he parked his vehicle beside the road and was about to alight to look for another taxi for his passengers, when one of them suddenly grabbed his hand causing him to fall to the ground.
The suspects then took the taxi and left Chavez, who immediately reported the incident to the police, Station 4 chief, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales said.
A follow-up operation was conducted and the taxi was recovered abandoned at La Salle Avenue in Bacolod at about 7:30 a.m., Rosales said.*APN
