New crisis center mulled
BY MARICAR ARANAS & JUDY F. PARTLOW

Members of the Provincial Council on Women of Negros Oriental hope to build a new structure to house the Women and Children Crisis Center and serve as temporary shelter for women and children who are victims of abuse.

Assistant Provincial Administrator Josefina Columna, said the provincial government has no available shelter for victims of abuses. The existing crisis center located at the Philippine National Police provincial headquarters compound is already dilapidated because of lack of maintenance, she added.

Columna suggested the rehabilitation and repair of the building but said there is need to improve the facilities like communication and other amenities. It should also be fenced to prevent unnecessary activities with members of the PNP.
