found dead: cops

The second most-wanted man in Bacolod City was found dead at his residence in Brgy. Estefania in the City Sunday, City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said yesterday.

De la Paz said Sunny Precioso, 41, of Villa Angeles in Brgy. Estefania was found lifeless in his room by his family. He, however, said there was no foul play behind his death because based on his medical records, Precioso had been suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis.

De la Paz said Precioso has an arrest warrant for murder issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 50 Judge Franklin Demonteverde, who denied him bail.

With the death of Precioso, de la Paz said, Ralphy Legaspina of Brgy. 22, Bacolod, who is wanted for illegal drug charges is now considered the second most-wanted man in the city.*APN

2 nabbed in stake-out

Two were arrested by members of the Bacolod City Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group in a stake-out operation in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City at about 11 a.m. yesterday.

CAIDSTOG team leader, Senior Insp. Joemarie Occeño, identified those arrested as Disocoro Altovar, “alias Socorro”, 44, of Purok Kagaycay in Brgy. 2, and Rodrigo Belonio, 32, of Purok Kawayanan in Brgy. Banago, both in Bacolod.

Occeño said they were supposed to conduct a test-buy operation in Purok Kagaycay when they saw Altovar handing a small sachet containing suspected shabu to Belonio in front of a store.

The policemen seized 34 additional elongated plastic sachets of the banned substance, a brown pouch with an improvised plastic scoop, an improvised bamboo clip, a pair of scissors and several empty plastic sachets from Altovar, police records showed.

Meanwhile, an improvised tooter, an improvised bamboo clip, a disposable lighter and 5 rolled aluminum foil were seized from Belonio, police records also showed.

The arrest of Belonio and Altovar was witnessed by Captain Emelda Banguanga and Kagawad Noe Romero, Sr. of Brgy. 2, Occeño said.

The two are now detained at the Bacolod City Police headquarters while violation of Republic Act 9165 charges will be filed against them.*APN

Rice dealer store robbed

Two armed men held up a rice dealer store at Libertad Extension in Bacolod City at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo, said yesterday.

Rebecca Bayate, 33, of La Paz District in Iloilo City, owner of Goldmine Rice Station, said the suspects, whose faces were covered with cloth and were armed with .38 caliber revolvers suddenly barged into her store and ordered her helpers to close the door.

Bayate said she and her helpers, Charlyn Untalan of Barotac Nuevo town, and Noriel Legarda of Balasan town, Iloilo province, were brought to the second floor of the store where they were hogtied.

One of the suspects told her he has a conflict with her husband. The suspects then started to search the rooms in the store and took P7,000 in cash colelction, Bayate’s cellular phone, and DVD player, she said.

Her other helper, Michael Demavivas, who had just arrived from Murcia, found out what happened when he was about to enter the store. He fled and reported the incident to Police Station 6 who immediately responded, Gentoleo said.

When the police arrived, the suspects held Bayates and her helpers hostage and threatened to shoot them if the police would take action, Gentoleo also said.

He said the suspects decided to use Bayate as a human shield and forced her to ride on a red motorcycle, but later abandoned her near the Planta Hotel at the Araneta highway in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod.

Gentoleo said they already have suspects but refused to give details in order not to hamper their ongoing investigation.*APN
