pass job to LGUs

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said it is the task of the Department of Energy to inspect gasoline station pumps to ensure that they are dispensing the right amount of gasoline consumers pay for, and they should not  pass the work on to local government units that do not have the expertise for such task.

Local government units do not have the expertise to calibrate the pumps, he said.

The DOE, in recent inspections, found that of the 1,140 gasoline station pumps in Negros Occidental, 33 in Bacolod City and 55 in the towns and cities of Negros Occidental had violations.moremoremore
