Disk jockey brutally killed

A club disc jockey was mauled and then brutally killed by a group who stabbed and shot him at the Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City at about 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

The fatality was identified as Ruben de la Rosa, 18, of Crossing Punta Taytay in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod, by Station 8 commander Chief Insp. Danilo Francisco.

De la Rosa who had two stab and gunshot wounds on his back was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.moremoremore

A better MassKara promised

This year’s MassKara Festival will have more improvements and more innovations and will focus solely on the festival since the city’s Charter Day had been celebrated last June 18, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday.

Leonardia and festival director Eli Francis Tajanlangit led sponsors and other city officials at the switch-on ceremonies of the Billboard of Lights at the Bacolod Public Plaza last night to officially launch the countdown to the 32nd MassKara Festival with the theme “Celebrating the new icons of Bacolod.”

Also present were Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and Councilors Em Ang, Caesar Distrito, Roberto Rojas, Homer Bais and Carlos Jose Lopez.moremoremore

PNoy wants peace
with RPA hastened

President Benigno Aquino III has ordered the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process to step up the government peace process with the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa- Pilipinas and its military arm, the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade, which has the bulk of its forces in Western Visayas.

“PNoy wants to put a close to all of this armed conflicts before his term ends…we are now focusing our attention on the RPA-ABB,” said Undersecretary Luisito Montalbo, OPAPP executive director, who met with Jose Ma. Valencia, chief of staff of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., at the Capitol in Bacolod City, yesterday.

The RPM-P/RPA-ABB signed a peace agreement with the national government in Don Salvador Benedicto town in Negros Occidental on Dec. 10, 2000 witnessed by then President Joseph Estrada.moremoremore
