Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo said he has directed the Provincial Tourism Office to intensify efforts for the full development of the tourism industry in the province.
Degamo lamented the lack of a tourism road map for the province. He urged the Provincial Tourism Council to set directions. He added that the provincial government has allotted more than P20 million for the tourism-related projects that include repairs and rehabilitation of existing tourist facilities, and yet, no efforts are undertaken on the marketing side.
He directed provincial tourism officer Myla Bromo-Abellana to immediately submit the programs and activities of her office, including those for the coming Buglasan Festival in October.
He also instructed Abellana to finalize the list of activities for the Buglasan Festival, with barely one month to prepare for it.
The approval of the budget by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan was, however, stalled due to the lack of accreditation of the group tasked to handle the Buglasan festivities this year.*JG
