SRA bares sugar
export figures

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Philippines will have exported more than 300,000 MT of sugar to the US and world market by the time the next milling season starts  to ensure improved domestic sugar prices, Sugar Regulatory Administrator Ma. Regina Bautista Martin said yesterday.

SRA records yesterday showed that shipped to the world market as of end August was 33,769 MT, with a total of 137,000 MT already with shipment nomination by September.

Total application for advance swap B (domestic) sugar to D (world) market already reached 195,000 MT, with some  booked to leave at the end of this month and next month, she said.

The sugar for the US market is 212,201MT, she added.

Martin said current sugar prices in the world market are better than domestic rates. Based on direct conversion world market prices are P1,585.810     per Lkg for refined and P1,353.340 per Lkg for raw, SRA figures show.*CPG
