James, Phil leave camp
as mom passes away

James and Phil Younghusband left the Azkals training camp in Bacolod City and rushed home to Manila early morning yesterday as their mom, Susan Younghusband passed away Saturday night.

The family his holding her wake at Funeraria Paz in Sucat, Parañaque, reports from the wires said.

The Younghusband brothers did not play for the Azkals team in the match against Global Teknika yesterday, where the nationals prevailed, and will also miss the friendly match against the Ceres – Negros Team tomorrow, Azkals coordinator Joji Ronda told local sportswriters.

Reports from the wires said Susan, 50, suffered a massive heart-attack at 10:30 p.m., Saturday. Her husband, Philip, had died of cancer eight year ago, leaving the Younghusband siblings, James, Phil, and sister 9-year-old Keri as orphans.

James and Phil arrived in Bacolod City Thursday with their teammates in the national men’s football team to start training in preparation for the four-nation Long Teng Cup set September 30 up to October 4 in Taiwan.

Meanwhile, after winning against the Global Teknika yesterday, the Azkals will be facing the PFF Suzuki Cup Under 23 national champion Ceres – Negros Team tomorrow at the Panaad pitch at 5:30 p.m.

The Office of the Governor reiterated that the match is open to the public for free.*NAB
