Police nab
suspected gun-for-hire

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The police arrested a suspected gun-for-hire in Basay town, Negros Oriental Wednesday.

The suspect was identified as Andresito Sala, 45, married, and a resident of Barangay Pal-os in Basay.

A police report said a team from the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Negros Oriental Philippine National Police Provincial Office, headed by Supt. Reynold Andot, arrested Sala at around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in Yardahan, in Bal-os.

Recovered from Sala were a .38 caliber revolver and a hand grenade from pocket.

Sala is now detained at the NOPPO lock-up facility and charges for illegal possession of a firearm and an explosive are being readied against him.

Andot said Sala is facing other cases in Negros Oriental and recently, he was charged for attempted murder in Negros Occidental.

The firearm recovered from him  will be subjected to ballistics testing for cross-matching with slugs and spent shells taken from other shooting incidents in the province, Andot said.

Supt. Leo Tolentino, police chief of Dumaguete, has taken photos of Sala and will present these to the witnesses in the shooting cases in the city, Andot added.*JFP
