The president and chief executive officer of Clark Development Authority, former Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, is  considering direct flights from Clark to Dumaguete and other areas in the country to bring  more investors to the countryside.

Remollo said he has made initial talks with Air Asia, a Malaysian airline company,  that has a hub in Clark and Air Philippines Express on servicing  provincial routes like Dumaguete for business missions and  road shows.

Remollo said more passengers from Luzon are now taking flights from Clark because it is more accessible and more economical.

Clark is now  catering to international flights for Hongkong, Singapore, Macau, Seoul South Korea, Guam, among others.

Remollo also  said there are about 500 corporate foreign investors in Clark and  direct flights to Dumaguete  can easily bring in business missions for possible investments in the city.

He said that even before President Benigno Aquino III went to China, a billon-dollar Chinese car company,  Foton,   had  already signed up with Clark because of its trust and confidence in  the new administration, and also the biggest steel company HLD, Korean companies like Samsung, and  American companies like Texas Instruments.

Remollo said that during the visit of the President to China,  he brought  with him some investors from Clark on  an observation trip.*JG
