Scoring 16 of his team’s 20 points in the fourth quarter, RB Chua carried Huminova Tigers to the finals as they won their rubber match against Organic Solutions, 79-73, in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 2nd Conference Inter-Color Basketballl Tournament played at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

The Tigers will dispute the crown against AACI Transport for a winner take all match today at 7:30 p.m.

Of his total output in the fourth quarter, Chua nailed 15 points in one stretch as he was the only Tiger scoring for seven minutes.

Trailing 59-49 going to the payoff period, Organic launched a last ditch rally behind Rey Pandoro, Chibon Uy and Bobby Yap to cut the deficit to a point.

But crucial free throw misses denied Organic the lead, while Chua drilled back-to-back trey to give the Tigers some breathing room at 74-67 lead with three minutes remaining.

Organic, who went 8-20 from the foul line in the final quarter, continued to miss from the 15-foot line with Pandoro’s slashing drives keeping Organic in the game.

Help finally came as Peter Paul Ortaliz scored on an off-balance banked layup and a Johnnyson Yu jumper while Chua sealed the finals seat for Huminova with a free throw.

Ricky Chua and RB Chua scored 9 and 6 points, respectively, as the Tigers held on for a 22-15 opening quarter lead even as Chibon Uy and Monroe Chua combined for 10 points.

Bobby Yap scored 10 points in the second quarter as Organic was able to cut the lead to a single basket, but a strong windup by the Tigers led by Fr. Clarence Canafe and Joseph Franco put the Tigers in control at the half, 40-31.

Jose Miguel Montinola knocked down 10 straight points for the Tigers in the third quarter and finished with 12 points for a 10-point lead, while Mic Mic Germudo and Bobby Yap conspired for 12 points for Organic.

RB Chua led the Tigers with 23 points, Montinola added 12, Ricky Chua contributed 9, Ortaliz with 8 points, and Fr. Canafe with 6 points.

Organic was paced by Bobby Yap with 19 points, Pandoro scored 18, Chibon Uy shot 11, Germudo with 10 points.*NAB
