Binay pledges
support for Nietes

Vice President Jejomar Binay joined world boxing champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes and Murcia town Mayor Andrew Montelibano Sunday during the boxer’s training in his home town, Murcia.

Binay and Nietes, with Montelibano, led hundreds of supporters in a walk around the town plaza that ended on its basketball court. During their walk, they received warm greetings from the Murciahanons.

At the basketball court, the Vice President and the boxing champion did some workouts for more than 30 minutes and shared thoughts and experiences.

After the workout, Montelibano treated his guests to breakfast beside the Municipal Hall, where Binay gave Nietes some tips. He also promised the boxing champion of his support for the October 8-scheduled world title fight against Mexican champion Ramon “Principe” Garcia at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum.

After breakfast, they proceeded to the local parish to pray before they parted ways.

Nietes will fight for his second division world title against reigning WBO world light flyweight Garcia in the main event of Pinoy Pride 9: WBO World Light Flyweight Championship.

Also fighting in the undercard are boxing sensation AJ "Bazooka" Banal, and Bacolod City’s boxing champions Arthur "El Matador" Villanueva and Merlito "Tiger" Sabillo.*
