Ric, Pompey and
Apin’s birthday bash

IVY

It was the loveliest night of the year for the three handsomest members of the Sunshine Boys: Ric Yanson, Pompeyo Querubin and Serafin Jimenea, when they marked their birthdays with a grand joint celebration recently at the Planta Hotel.

Guests were their co-members in the Sunshine Boys Club as well as their close friends and admirers. Sounds of infectious music from Bagguer Villaluz and his expert rendition of old-time favorites, alternating with lively music from Jose Mari Teves’ Band, greeted the guests as they entered the venue.  The guys looked dapper and debonair in their coats and tie while the ladies were stylish in their evening wear. The three celebrators welcomed each guest warmly as they were led to their tables where drinks and crunchy pica-pica awaited them. The two emcees William Mirano and Monet Rojas kept us all in stitches over their jokes and witty remarks.

No wonder the Sunshine Boys have managed to stay young despite their advancing years – they just keep on laughing! Monsignor Vic Rivas led the Invocation after which everyone enjoyed the sumptuous dinner specially prepared for the occasion. After greeting the crowd and wishing the celebrators Happy Birthday, the emcees declared ballroom dancing open and the band began to play the top favorite dance music of the season. Soon the place sizzled as the dance aficionados burned the dance floor. We could see how the celebrators  enjoyed dancing with gusto and finesse. In between the dancing, there were entertainment numbers which delighted the audience as well as a raffle with big, big cash prizes.

The Sunshine Boys led by Toti Ramos, even performed a line dance to the song, Achy, Breaky Heart! The fun continued well into the night as people couldn’t tear themselves away from the dance floor. It was dance till you drop! Wotta night. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RIC, POMPEY and  APIN!*
