murder raps vs. lover

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Murder charges will be filed against a jobless man who allegedly strangulated his live-in partner to death, stuffed her body in a sack and threw it off the shorelines of Bacolod City near the Reclamation area Saturday.

City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said yesterday that the charges will be filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against Jovrasky Clotes Jarin, alias “Jayson Flores”, 31, of Cavite City this week for the brutal killing of Aster Romero of Hacienda Makina in Silay City, Negros Occidental, and a resident of Brgy. 23, at the time of her death.

He said Jarin is set to make an extra-judicial confession today that will be used as evidence in the murder charges against him.

Jarin admitted that he choked Romero with his bare hands after she allegedly stabbed him in his palm while they were fighting in their boarding house at BBB-Galo streets Saturday noon. He said he stuffed her body in the sack, rented a tricycle and threw it into the ocean because he was already panicking.

The police will also use the complaint affidavits of Romero’s father, Edgar Romero, to strengthen the case against Jarin, De la Paz said.

Jarin clarified that he and Romero quarreled because he wanted her to bring her 2-year-old daughter by her first live-in partner back to Silay City, and not because of jealousy as reported earlier.

He also admitted that he took the child with him and left her with a couple at the public plaza, where  policemen saw the girl and brought her to Balay Pasilungan at the Bacolod City Police headquarters.

The suspect said he regretted what he did, and will face the consequences of his act. He also said he had no intention of killing his live-in partner, whom he loved very much.*APN
