Subdivision developers urged
to allot 5% for public schools
A bill has been filed requiring developers of subdivision projects to allot five percent of their project's land area or its equivalent amount in a total cost for the development or construction of public schools, a government press release said.
Rep. Carmelo Lazatin (1st District, Pampanga) authored House Bill 5282. He said “Investment in public education is sound economics since human capital is the most important resource in any given society. When spending for public education increases, the quality of public education also increases.”
The measure seeks to amend Section 18 of Republic Act 7279 otherwise known as the "Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992," he said.
