The Department of Energy has declared a "market emergency" as part of the preparations for the entry of a new typhoon named Quiel late this week.
Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras said at the sidelines of the PowerTrends 2011 that the department has issued circular no. 2011-09-0009 that will allow the country's largest hydropower facilities to operate as "must run" units.
Almendras said the circular is supposed to be good until today, depending on the weather and the status of the dams.


SONO holds
6th Safety Summit
The Safety Organization of Negros Occidental Inc. held its 6th Safety Summit at L’Fisher Hotel yesterday on the theme “Environmental Safety and Health: Our Concern in this Changing World” to promote safety in different work places, businesses, and establishments in Bacolod City.
SONO president Edmundo Togado yesterday said the summit, which ends today, is geared towards assisting business and work places like schools, factories, constructions, hotels, restaurants, offices, and other commercial and industrial establishments on their responsibility to ensure safety of workers.
He said around 95 percent of companies in the country do not comply with the regulation of the Department of Labor and Employment occupational safety and health standards. 


More overseas jobs bared
Four companies from Doha, Qatar and Damman K.S.A namely Hotel Souq Waqif, Ali M. Al Qahtan Est., Alfardan Group and Al Hajry Overseas-ARAMCO Project will hold their last recruitment session today, at the Masskara Hall 1 of the Bacolod City Government Center, a press release from the city said.
With the help of Pisces International Agency and Public Employment Service Office, the companies are recruiting two cashiers, a male housekeeper and two masseurs for Hotel Souq Waqif in Doha, Qatar.
An HVAC technician, motor winder, arc welder and sales executive for Ali M. Al Qahtani Est. in Damman, K.S.A are also needed.
