Phl beats Thailand,
battles China today

Despite committing 20 turnovers and giving up at least 10 points off these offensive lapses, the Philippine women’s basketball team prevailed over Thailand, 60-49, in the 1st PSC-SBP Women’s Basketball Invitational Cup at the West Negros University Gym yesterday.

With five players scoring for the Philippine team in the first quarter, led by Analyn Almazan with seven points and Angeli Gloriani with six points, points, the Discovery Perlas Pilipinas held off Bangkok Bank Basketball team, 21-11, to set the tone for its second win in the tournament.

The 10-point margin proved to be the buffer the Philippine team needed in the next three quarters as the Thais matched the Filipinas’ speed and prevented them from executing well their run-and-gun game.
