DOST offers scholarships
to college students

The Department of Science and Technology in Negros Oriental is accepting applicants for this year’s Junior Level Science Scholarship, its press release said.

Regular third year college students presently enrolled in identified science and technology courses in Silliman University and Negros Oriental State University are urged to apply.

An applicant must have a general weighted average of 83 percent and has no failing grade in any subject; not a recipient of any other government or private scholarship; has no pending application for immigration abroad; physically and mentally healthy and morally upright; and a resident of any Negros Oriental city or town in the last four years, the press release said.

An applicant must submit two recent 1”x1”ID picture; a copy of grades obtained during the first two years in college duly certified by the registrar/dean/department head; photocopy of his or her parents’ income tax return for CY 2011 or original copy of tax exemption certification from the Bureau of Internal Revenue if parents are non-tax filers or certification of non-employment signed by the mayor or barangay official; copy of electric bills from May to July 2012; the applicant’s birth certificate; and the fully accomplished application form.

The application form and requirements must be submitted before August 24, 2012 to the DOST-Provincial Science and Technology Center, at 24 Yakal Street, Daro, Dumaguete City, the press release also said.

The examination will be on September 22 in identified test centers. Applicants identified as “merit” must pay a non-refundable fee of P200 upon application.
