Tangub Missionary Baptist Church beat Massebah Christian Church, 90-74, to avenge its opening day loss in the hands of River of Life International Ministries as action continues in the 1st Inter-Church Basketball League at Villamonte Gym.
With former National Basketball Association draftee Kurtis Goodwin in the lineup, TMBC streaked past Massebah to register its first victory in the tournament.
Joining the team from Tangub in the win column is the Grace Bible Church after defeating Church of the Nazarene, 84-42, and Ikthus East, which beat Bacolod Promise Land of Barangay Villamonte, 85-81.
Eight Bible-preaching churches are competing in the tournament with games played every weekend.
Tournament commissioner Nestor Ordonio said the teams will play in the single round robin elimination with the top four teams advancing to the crossover semifinals.
The winners will dispute the title, while the losers will settle for runner-up honors.
Other teams seeing action in the tournament are the Grace Bible Church and the 1st Bethany Church Shepherds (Homesite).
Ordonio said the basketball competition is part of their ministry to foster Christian friendship and camaraderie among the members of their congregation.*NAB
