The Philippine consul in Jeddah  has confirmed that an Overseas Filipino Worker there from Sagay City has died, Anna Marie Lucasan, head of the Public Affairs Division of the Office of the Governor, said  yesterday.

Consul Leo Ausan informed Lucasan that  the employer of  engineer Roy Gonzaga, 54, in Jeddah was processing the documents required for the repatriation of his remains.

He also said they had  sent a fax message to the Department of Foreign Affairs to assist Gonzaga’s next of kin  in Sagay in the processing of the  documents  required from their end.

Lucasan said the PAD had sought the help of the Philippine consulate in Jeddah after Rebecca Gonzaga from Poblacion 1 in Sagay City  sought their help.

Mrs. Gonzaga said they received a  call from a Dr. Winston Dizon informing them of the death of her husband  who was employed as a foreman  of the Saline Water Conversion Corp.  in Jeddah.

Dizon was using the cellphone of Gonzaga when he called, his wife said.          The doctor said the engineer died on January 30 and his remains were at the King Abdullah Medical Hospital.

The cause of  his death was not stated, however.*CPG
