26 injured in accident
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

At least 26 passengers were injured with one reportedly in serious condition when a passenger bus of the Vallacar Transit and a jeepney collided in Valladolid town, Negros Occidental, at about 10 a.m. yesterday.

Two of the injured passengers were on the bus, while the rest were on the jeepney, traffic Investigator Police Officer 3 Julieto Obandos said.

He said the passengers were brought to the Valladolid district Hospital, Bacolod Adventist Hospital, Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital and at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod.

Initial investigation showed that the jeepney from Brgy. Patik in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental was heading north in Brgy. Mabini when it suddenly stopped to pick up a passenger.

Obandos said Arnel Candiasan of Brgy. Cabacungan, La Castellana lost control of the bus and it hit the rear left side of the jeepney that fell into a roadside canal.

The names of the victims were not available as of press time last night, but drivers of both bus and the jeepney are under police custody.*APN
