Cebu Pacific launched the inaugural flight of its Bacolod-Cagayan de Oro route at the Bacolod-Silay Airport yesterday using its ATR 72-500 aircraft.
Agnes Gupalor, Visayas and Midanao director for sales and marketing, said they want help make Bacolod a top destination for domestic and foreign travelers by providing more connectivity and access through air travel and low fare rates.
Gupalor said that more flights will facilitate more businesses, education, and government linkages in the region since Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro is now an hour and 10 minute plane ride.
The Bacolod-CDO will have thrice weekly flights while its Bacolod-Cebu, and Bacolod-Manila flights are scheduled twice weekly and five times daily, respectively, she also said.
Silay Mayor Jose Montelibano, who attended the launching, thanked Cebu Pacific for the new flight making it the 16 th flight available at the Bacolod-Silay airport.
The additional flight will also bring commerce and more investments to Silay and to Negros Occidental as they are the gateway of the province, Montelibano said.
He also said that the P25 million runway expansions and the P194 million terminal improvements will start in the first quarter next year.
