Grupo Progreso mayoralty candidate Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said he will work for the implementation of his “B-I-G” platform of government once elected as mayor of Bacolod City, a press release from his camp said.
B-I-G stands for “Basic Programs, Infrastructure Development, and Generation of Jobs,” which aims to ensure continued growth and development for Bacolod and a brighter future of its people, Sayson said.
He also said that, under the Basic Programs, he will work for the strengthening of health programs, including the distribution of locally-funded PhilHealth cards to poor families in the city; strengthening of barangay-based health centers and the City Health Office so it can become a complete diagnostic center to cater to the needs of Bacolodnons.
He said the PhilHealth program is much better because it is universally accepted and can be used anywhere in the country.
It also covers the cardholders' whole family, or his beneficiary, once qualified, unlike the ones being pushed by his political opponents in their campaign sorties, he added.
Sayson also vowed to work for a stronger scholarship program for poor but deserving students, and the establishment of a youth and sports center where the skills of young people can be honed, the press release said.
He will also work for the establishment of TechVoc programs at the Bacolod City College, and an alternative learning system program in the elementary and high school levels, in cooperation with the Department of Education; and provide more assistance to public school teachers for them to continue as effective educators, it said.
As for peace and order, Sayson said he will work for the purchase of more police equipment to improve PNP operations in the city.
He will work for additional funds for the Association of Senior Citizens to finance their various programs, he said.
Under the Infrastructure Development, Sayson aims to work for the installation of more satellite markets and renovation of existing ones; opening of new road networks, computerization of the traffic system, and putting up of a central traffic system, the press release said.
He will also work for the establishment of the south terminal; push for green technology/solar power for city government buildings; and the installation of CCTV cameras in public places and major infrastructure facilities, it said.
Under Jobs Generation, Sayson said he will work for the establishment of an economic zone to attract more investment opportunities in the city and increase employment, the release said.
He will also work for the promotion of more tourism sites and promote sports tourism in the city, it added.*CGS
