BJMP relieves warden,
two others for jailbreak

Chief Insp. Benny Freddie Cobarde was relieved as the jail warden of the Sagay City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology yesterday following the escape of 13 inmates Wednesday, BJMP Region 6 Director Senior Supt. Ignacio Panti told the DAILY STAR.

Panti, who went to Sagay City yesterday, said he designated Senior Jail Officer 4 Eduardo Bañares as the officer-in-charge of the Sagay City Jail while the investigation of the escape is on going.

Aside from Cobarde, Panti also ordered the relief of Jail Officers 1 Joever Valenzuela and Francis Ballador, who were the custodial officers on duty when the escape happened.moremoremore

warns Negrenses

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday ordered the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Sagay City to wake up and shape up after the escape of 13 inmates Wednesday.

The governor also called on Negrenses to stay vigilant as most of the escapees were facing murder, frustrated murder and robbery charges.

Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, Negros Occidental OIC police director, briefed him on the jailbreak Wednesday and he ordered him to track down the jailbreakers.moremoremore

PNP, Army poll security set

The Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police bared yesterday their four-phase security methods to ensure peaceful, clean and safe elections in Negros Occidental.

During a Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center meeting, Army Col. Jon Aying, 303 rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the first phase of their security method includes a week-long training for the army and police who will be assigned to polling precincts.

Aying said the second phase involves active checkpoints, combat and visibility operations and securing of the voting centers, the routes of the board of election inspectors to the voting centers, and the electorate.moremoremore
