2 of 13 Sagay escapees
recaptured at bus station
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Two of the thirteen inmates who escaped from the Sagay City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Wednesday were recaptured at the bus terminal in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental at about 5 p.m. yesterday.

Recaptured were Rolando Bajo, “alias Ron-Ron,” 22, of Brgy. Paraiso, and Jeck Española, “alias Jojo”, 24, of Brgy. Celestino Villacin, both in Sagay City, Chief Insp. Gilbert Peremne, BJMP Region-6 spokesperson, said.

Peremne said the two were arrested through a tip from an informant, who told Cadiz City jail officials that Española and Bajo were on board a Ceres bus going to Bacolod.moremoremore

Join April 27 rally
against RH: Bishop
BY
NIDA BUENAFE

The Diocese of Bacolod will spearhead a grand rally against the Reproductive Health Law on April 27, from 1 up to 6 p.m., at the Bacolod Public Plaza.

In a circular letter he issued, Bishop Vicente Navarra called on all parish priests, parochial vicars, chaplains, and rectors of churches, superiors of seminaries, institutes of consecrated and societies of apostolic life, heads of schools and law associations, and the Christian faithful of the diocese to join the rally.

The bishop again underscored the need to repeal the RH Law, and said that the “Diocese of Bacolod has been consistent in its defense of the sanctity of human life in the face of the evil of the Reproductive Health policy that some of our government leaders have been staunchly advocating”.moremoremore

GILBERT BAYORAN

Another company-sized unit of the police elite Special Action Force arrived in Negros Occidental to augment the local police in the maintenance of peace and order, and to conduct internal security operations, its commander, Supt. Mario Baquiran, yesterday said.

The 604th SAF Company, which is composed of 72 personnel, aside from the 39 assigned at the 6th SAF Battalion headquarters in Manapla, arrived nine months after the 601st SAF Company came to Negros Occidental in July last year.

The SAF troopers are trained in domestic counter-terrorism, law enforcement and commando-type unconventional warfare.moremoremore
