Earth Day activities held

Several activities to celebrate Earth Day in Bacolod City were conducted at SM Store recently, its press release said.

These included a fun run at the mall grounds Saturday morning, as well as an art exhibition, jamming, and awarding of winners of the on-the-spot essay writing and poster-making competitions sponsored by the Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation, the Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan and Greenwatch yesterday, the press release said.

Meanwhile, the mall's Transport Hub will be the venue of cartoon character meet-up activities, that started with Batman, Aquaman and Green Arrow on April 21; Lorax on May 5; Minion, May 19; and Easter Bunny successor Hop on May 30, all at 5 p.m. Daily games and photo spots will also be held at the northwing al fresco, the press release added.*

AAB-N officers inducted

The new officers of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros took their oath before Bacolod artist Charlie Co at the Ikon Café at the Pope John Paul II Tower in Bacolod City recently.

The AAB-N officers for 2013-2015 are Marisol Alquizar - president, Nunistell Mae Fulo-Lee - vice president, Chrysee Samillano - secretary, Dan Dojillo - treasurer, Butch Libo-on - auditor and Pol Bautista - public information officer.

The members of the Board of Directors are Rodney Martinez, Jecky Alano, Bert Berondo, Ramon de los Santos and Bong Jakosalem.

Past AAB-N president Corazon Golez is ex-oficio director.*

Beauty pageant set
April 27 in Bacolod

The Miss Silka Bacolod 2013 grand coronation night will take place April 27 at 6 p.m., at the Gaisano Grand Bacolod mall carpark, with Kit Thompson, Star Magic 2013 celebrity artist, as guest, a press release from organizers said.

Admission is free for those interested to see the 15 contestants as they vie for the title to represent Bacolod City to the search for the Miss Silka Philippines 2013 national competition that is produced by Cosmetique Asia Corporation, and organized by TMX travel and marketing, the press release added.*
